About the artist:
Artist
Mary Pritchard began making jewelry in her early teens, inspired
by the artists she
discovered at the many art shows she attended with her mother.
Mary
continued making jewelry into her college years where she soon
discovered a love of clay. As an apprentice with Idaho clay artist,
Maggi Fuhriman, Mary worked for three years discovering the world
of clay, uncovering her ability to create and celebrating the
friendship that was forged between mentor and teacher. While
beginning to carve out her notoriety as a tile artist, Mary and
her fiance opened a studio in Hammond Bay. The
two created a niche in the art circle as detailed tile artists,
also creating mosaic tables and fireplace
surrounds as well as thrown pottery for household and decorative
use. In 2001, still interested in Jewelry, Mary began to apply
her knowledge of clay with her desire to design jewelry, and
a new line was born. H.B. Jewelry is a conglomeration of clay,
both carved and stamped, and sterling silver which together
creates a feeling of nature and the beauty that it brings.
Mary and her husband work and live on the shores of Lake Huron
near a small town not far from where she was born. She can
be reached by e-mail and
would welcome any questions or inquiries about her work.

Being an artist
means, not reckoning and counting,
but ripening like the tree
which does not force its sap
and stands confident
in the storms of spring
without the fear that after them
may come no summer.
-Rainer Maria Rilke
